North Rhine-Westphalia: Car breaks through bridge railings and crashes on A448

Bochum (dpa / lnw) – Four people fell in a car on the A448 in Bochum after it broke through a bridge railing. Some of them were seriously injured, the police said on Saturday morning. A 28-year-old driver turned off the A448 onto the “Waterway” bridge on Saturday night with three other 23, 25 and 26-year-old passengers on board. There, according to the police, the man lost control of his car for unknown reasons and broke through the railing. The car then fell six meters deep on the A448 and remained on the roof.

According to the fire brigade, the emergency services had to free the four of them with technical resources from the car. According to the police, the 28-year-old and another person were seriously injured; the other two occupants sustained minor injuries. The scene of the accident was closed while the accident was being recorded and the railing was being repaired. The police initially did not provide any information on the extent of the damage.
