Cologne (dpa / lnw) – Midfielder Niklas Hauptmann leaves the Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Köln and returns to Dynamo Dresden. The 26-year-old received a contract with the third division club from Saxony until the summer of 2024. The Cologne team announced this on Wednesday. The son of former FC professional Ralf Hauptmann came to FC in 2018 and was promoted to the Bundesliga with the Cologne team a year later. In the past few months, however, Hauptmann had unspecified health problems and no longer saw any sporting prospects for himself at FC.
“After the preparation, it was clear to me that I had no prospect of playing time at FC. But for me, match practice is the most important thing in order to get back to 100 percent competitive level,” said Hauptmann.
