North Rhine-Westphalia: Cologne "Cold Case": Individual references to "Aktenzeichen XY"

Cologne (dpa / lnw) – After the broadcast on the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved”, the police received individual tips in the case of a woman killed during the 1988 carnival season in Cologne. There were five calls, said a police spokesman on Thursday morning. It is now being examined whether these help and whether new investigation approaches result from them. The case was the subject of the ZDF program on Wednesday evening, in which unsolved criminal cases are presented.

The then 24-year-old was partying at a disco in February 1988 until she decided to move on. About 600 meters from the nightclub, she was attacked, beaten and finally strangled. The crime is said to have happened behind a beer stand – it was carnival time in Cologne at the time. The motive in the “cold case” – that is, the “cold case” that is unsolved – is still unknown. The perpetrator is said to have taken the young woman’s handbag.
