North Rhine-Westphalia: Corrosive and flammable liquid leaked from the container

Duisburg (dpa / lnw) – On Monday, a corrosive and highly flammable liquid leaked out on a company site in the Duisburg port in the Ruhrort district. According to the fire brigade, the dangerous substance was isopropylamine, an organic chemical compound that is used in pharmaceutical chemistry, among other things. However, the quantities that escaped were small, so that there was no danger to the surrounding areas. Nobody got hurt.

When the fire brigade arrived, the affected container was already in a safety tank. The emergency services sealed the exit point and also called in special forces from other plant fire brigades. At times, the access roads to the company premises were blocked by the police.
