North Rhine-Westphalia: daycare center closed because of monkeypox: no other cases so far

Mönchengladbach (dpa / lnw) – After the closure of a daycare center in Mönchengladbach due to a monkeypox infection in the workforce, no further cases have been reported so far. The children are under the supervision of their parents, but not in quarantine, a city spokesman said on Monday. The city day care center was closed last Thursday and is supposed to stay up to and including September 6th. According to the city, that was 21 days after the last contact with the children, parents and other employees on August 16.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the number of newly reported cases of monkeypox has recently fallen slightly. According to the NRW Ministry of Health, 39 cases were registered in the week from August 15th to 21st. The week before there were 50 cases, before that 53 cases.
