North Rhine-Westphalia: Perpetrator returns 89-year-old stolen money

Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) – Then he was probably plagued by a bad conscience: After he had stolen an 89-year-old senior woman while withdrawing money in a bank branch in Gelsenkirchen, the bank received an anonymous letter shortly afterwards. In addition to the stolen amount of money, it contained a letter of apology to the victim, as the police reported on Thursday.

The 89-year-old had the amount stolen when withdrawing money. At first she believed the ATM had a technical defect and contacted the bank employees. But they could only assure the woman that the sum had been properly paid. How exactly the theft took place remained unclear.
