North Rhine-Westphalia: Rainy start to the week with a risk of black ice expected in NRW

Essen (dpa / lnw) – The German Weather Service (DWD) warns in North Rhine-Westphalia at the start of the week of freezing rain and snow. Black ice is possible, especially in the east of the country. On Monday morning there is a chance of rain in places, and it will remain cloudy. In the afternoon, according to the DWD, it loosens up a bit in some areas, with temperatures of a maximum of 6 to 9 degrees and 2 to 4 degrees in the Weserbergland and at high altitudes.

In the night to Tuesday it will remain increasingly overcast, again freezing rain can occur locally. In the higher mountains, slippery snow is to be expected. In the east it can get as cold as -1 degrees at night. With a mix of clouds and rain, it warms up again on Tuesday during the day – to 7 to 10 degrees and about 4 degrees in the Sauerland region. On Wednesday, the DWD forecasts a similar weather situation with a change of clouds, rain and moderate wind.
