North Rhine-Westphalia: record player Wunderlich returns to Viktoria Cologne

Cologne (dpa / lnw) – He is a record player, record goalscorer and promotion hero – now Mike Wunderlich is surprisingly returning to the third division soccer team Viktoria Köln. The 36-year-old terminated his contract with the second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern and will return to Viktoria on January 1, apparently with a view to a post-career role. His father Franz is head of sports at Viktoria.

“I know the Höhenberg sports park and the Viktoria as well as my own living room”. said Wunderlich: “The club has undergone impressive development over the past year and a half. I’m proud to be a part of it again. With the move back to Schäl Sick, I’m also preparing for the time after the active one career ahead.”

Wunderlich was born in Cologne and played for Viktoria when he was young and from 2011 to 2021. He then moved to the Palatinate. He scored the decisive goal when Viktoria was promoted to the 3rd division in 2019. He had played 15 games for FCK this season and scored four goals.
