North Rhine-Westphalia: Showers and thunderstorms expected on Sunday and at the start of the week

Essen (dpa / lnw) – Warm temperatures, but a lot of rain and sometimes heavy thunderstorms: People in North Rhine-Westphalia have to be prepared for changeable weather at the start of the week. On Sunday afternoon there are strong thunderstorms, especially in the east, as a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) announced. Heavy rain, hail and gusts of wind up to 80 kilometers per hour are also possible. The temperatures are a maximum of 26 degrees in the east and 25 degrees in the higher mountains. The rainy weather will last overnight into Monday morning.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue on Monday before clearing up in the second half of the day. The maximum temperatures are between 23 and 26 degrees. According to the DWD, it will remain cloudy on Tuesday with the temperatures remaining the same, but the risk of showers is low.
