Rishi Sunak called to order after letting his dog run off-leash

In the widely shared video on TikTok, Nova, the British Prime Minister’s dog, can be seen roaming freely in London’s royal Hyde Park after a close-up of a sign saying dogs must be kept on a leash. A flagrant offense which earned the head of the conservative government, appointed at the end of October 2022, a call to order from the police. Another embarrassing prank after ‘partygate’ and ‘seatbeltgate’.

The footage then shows the Labrador retriever being held by the collar by Rishi Sunak, before a woman, who appears to be his wife Akshata Murty, hands him the leash.

“We are aware of a video showing a dog being walked off-leash in Hyde Park,” a London police spokesman said. “An officer, who was present at the time, spoke to a woman and reminded her of the rules. The dog was put back on a leash,” added the same source. According to the BBC, the officer in question is one of the prime minister’s close protection.

Rishi Sunak’s spokesman declined to comment.

Rishi Sunak has been fined for not wearing his seatbelt while filming video in the back of a car while traveling in the north of England. He acknowledged a “mistake” and apologized, Downing Street said.

When he was Boris Johnson’s finance minister, Rishi Sunak was fined in the so-called ‘Partygate’ scandal, for being present at a rally for the prime minister’s birthday in breach of covid rules.
