Halle (dpa/sa) – Almost 15,800 people were treated in the previous year with a proven coronavirus infection in a hospital in Saxony-Anhalt. Compared to 2020, that was more than four times as many patients with almost 3700 proven cases as the State Statistical Office reported on Monday. According to the information, the data is based on the case-based hospital statistics. According to this, two thirds of all inpatient Covid 19 cases in the country in 2021 affected people aged 65 and over (10,300 cases). Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.18 million inhabitants.
The case-based hospital statistics relate to the billing system. The corona pandemic arrived in Saxony-Anhalt in March 2020.
