Aschersleben (dpa/sa) – 86 women and 122 men have completed their training or studies at the Police University of Applied Sciences in Aschersleben. They strengthened the ranks of the state police from September, the Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday. Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU) explained: “Saxony-Anhalt’s state police can look forward to new and well-trained colleagues. We are thus continuing to increase the number of staff in the state police.”
In the spring of 2022, around 180 graduates had already received their certificates from the police college. With the current graduates, the total number for this year rises to around 390.
New police officers will be appointed on Thursday. “Our goal this year was to recruit 440 young people for a police career,” said the interior minister. “Not only will we achieve this goal, we will probably even slightly exceed it.” According to the information, a good 2,500 men and women have applied for the around 440 places in the current year. In 2021, 360 police candidates were hired.
