Saxony-Anhalt: Real wages in Saxony-Anhalt fall again in the third quarter

Halle (dpa/sa) – In the third quarter of 2022, real wages in Saxony-Anhalt fell for the fifth time in a row compared to the previous year. The price-adjusted real wage was 4.9 percent below the same quarter of the previous year, according to preliminary figures from the State Statistical Office on Wednesday. Accordingly, the development of nominal wages has no longer compensated for inflation since the third quarter of 2021.

As reported by the State Statistical Office in Halle, employees subject to social security contributions earned a nominal 3.7 percent more than in the third quarter of 2021. In the same period, the level of consumer prices rose by an average of 9.1 percent. The development of real wages was therefore driven in particular by high inflation.
