Saxony-Anhalt: State Medical Association warns of a "winter of bankruptcies"

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt’s doctors fear a “winter of bankruptcies” against the background of rising energy costs and the ever-increasing shortage of skilled workers. As a result, the healthcare system is under additional pressure and the guarantee of medical care is at risk, the medical association announced on Saturday in Magdeburg. There is only minimal energy-saving potential in this area, in the facilities “the lights go out,” it said.

“It is imperative that an emergency plan takes effect that ensures medical care in the inpatient and outpatient area,” said chamber president Uwe Ebmeyer according to the announcement. “If nothing happens, we will fall into a cost trap that can no longer be handled.” The medical profession also called for a training offensive and more medical study places.
