Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The Saxony-Anhalt State Office for Addiction Issues is focusing on tobacco prevention this year. “Under the motto “Saxony-Anhalt breathes a sigh of relief”, an umbrella campaign is being prepared that is intended to significantly strengthen non-smoker protection and prevention,” announced the head of the state office, Helga Meeßen-Hühne, on Monday.
In addition, even more addiction counseling centers in the state are to go digital. In Saxony-Anhalt, free online addiction counseling started with three model counseling centers in Magdeburg, Halle and Bitterfeld-Wolfen. More are to be connected to the platform from the second quarter of 2023, according to Meeßen-Hühne.
The state office for addiction issues will be funded by the state with 240,700 euros this year. Minister of Social Affairs Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) presented the grant decision on Monday in Magdeburg. “The state office does important work in coordinating addiction prevention in the state,” said the minister. “It provides important impetus for the content-related work of the specialist departments in the districts and urban districts of Saxony-Anhalt.”
