Saxony: Fire in a restaurant: EUR 50,000 property damage

Geyer (dpa / sn) – In a restaurant in Geyer in the Erzgebirge district, a fire broke out in the basement during construction work. A 48-year-old man was trapped by the flames in the basement on Saturday afternoon, police said on Sunday. He was doing construction work when the fire broke out.

He was freed by firefighters and taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading. Why the fire broke out during construction is part of the ongoing investigation. According to the police, property damage of around 50,000 euros was caused in the basement of the restaurant.
