Saxony: Light for colorful Chemnitz Esse is switched off

Chemnitz (dpa/sn) – Saxony’s highest work of art will no longer shine at night for the time being. The 302 meter high forge at the North thermal power station, which was colorfully designed by the French artist Daniel Buren, will be switched off until further notice, the energy supplier Eins informed on Wednesday. This was justified with a regulation of the federal government on short-term measures to save energy. The chimney with seven colors such as melon yellow, sky blue and strawberry red is a symbol of the city. In the evening and at night it was previously staged with LED lights.
