Waldheim/Chemnitz (dpa/sn) – One day after his disappearance, a fugitive from the Waldheim prison (Middle Saxony district) is behind bars again. The 31-year-old was discovered drunk near a supermarket in Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf on Saturday evening. Witnesses alerted the police, who arrested the man, officials said in the evening.
The 31-year-old had not returned from an exit on Friday where he had been unaccompanied. He had been sentenced to prison for two attempts at murder, which he had to serve until 2024, according to the Chemnitz police department. A tracking dog and a person detection dog were also used in the search for the man.
