Saxony: serious accident on B72: one dead, two seriously injured

Chemnitz (dpa / sn) – A 51-year-old died in a traffic accident involving three cars on Autobahn 72 near Chemnitz. Two other men were seriously injured, police said on Tuesday. According to this, a 49-year-old skidded in his car on Monday evening in the direction of Hof, crashed into both crash barriers and then came to a stop in the right lane.

The 51-year-old passenger then got out of the car. Shortly thereafter, a 23-year-old driver stopped his car on the hard shoulder behind the car involved in the accident. The man also got out of his car, apparently to provide assistance, and ran towards the scene of the accident. The car of a 26-year-old approached, also skidded and crashed into a guardrail. The car then spun to the right, hitting the 51-year-old passenger and the 23-year-old helper.

According to the information, the 51-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The men, aged 26 and 49, were taken to the hospital. The suspected helper suffered minor injuries. The resulting property damage amounts to around 52,000 euros. After the accident, the Autobahn in the direction of Hof was closed for four hours.
