Saxony: Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe increases ticket prices from April

Dresden (dpa / sn) – The Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (VVO) will increase its prices by an average of eleven percent from April. The company announced this on Tuesday. The price adjustment of the transport association, which is divided into twelve companies, was decided by the association meeting in December 2022. According to the VVO, the reasons for the increases are new wage agreements for employees and increased energy and material costs. The aim of the tariff adjustments is to maintain the existing offer. According to the association, the Deutschlandticket, which is to be introduced on May 1st, will provide financial relief for passengers.

So that passengers can adjust to the new prices, so-called transitional rules will apply from April. Accordingly, tickets purchased at the old price will still be recognized until June 30th.

The area of ??the VVO extends over the districts of Meissen, Bautzen and Saxon Switzerland – Eastern Ore Mountains as well as over Dresden. It has a total of 1.2 million inhabitants.
