Shots in front of drug counseling – after seven months, the crime seems to have been cleared up

Shots were fired in front of a drug counseling center in Hamburg’s Harburg district on the day before New Year’s Eve, two men were seriously injured. Seven months later, the Hamburg police cleared up the crime. “Two arrest warrants that the Hamburg public prosecutor’s office had obtained from the court have now been executed,” said a police spokeswoman on Monday.

The main suspect, a 41-year-old man, was arrested by Italian police in mid-July. He is in extradition custody there. On Friday, officials also arrested a 36-year-old man suspected of being an accomplice. Extensive investigations would have put search specialists on the track of the two.

According to the information available at the time, both victims suffered upper body injuries from the shots on December 30, 2021, were no longer responsive and were taken to hospitals under emergency medical care. “The victims have since recovered,” the police said. The investigations continued. “According to current knowledge, the motive for the act should be sought in disputes in the local drug scene.”
