The parents of Carlos León, the soldier from El Viso del Alcor (Seville) who died on December 21 during military maneuvers in Cerro Muriano (Córdoba), will present a complaint this Friday against the captain in command of the exercise and the entire chain. of command.

As Sevillian lawyer Luis Romero, who is in charge of representing the parents, explained to EFE, the complaint will be registered tomorrow in the Investigative Court number 4 of Córdoba, where it has already been presented as a private accusation.

The intention of the complaint is to define the possible responsibilities of the captain and the rest of the commanders in the death of the young man from Seville, 24 years old, and corporal Miguel Ángel Jiménez Andújar.

The event took place early in the morning when military maneuvers were being carried out in an aquatic environment with temperatures of up to 4 degrees, specifically in an area next to the Guadanuño reservoir, which is part of the military installations.

The group of soldiers were carrying out a “basic training program” in the aquatic environment consisting of buoyancy with equipment, while trying to confirm the causes that motivated the dispersion of the soldiers at a given time.

The first operation to rescue the soldiers managed to rescue two of them, who had to be treated by the medical team due to “symptoms of hypothermia”, and the search protocol was immediately activated for the other two soldiers who left. missing.

Civil Guard troops arrived at the Córdoba military base, commanding the search in a swampy area joined by members of the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Armed Institute (GEAS).

The Sevillian soldier joined the Army on May 8 and was also assigned to the La Reina 2 Infantry Regiment.
