Statistics: Number of people taken into care is growing

The number of people taken into care in Germany has increased again after four years of decline. Last year, around 47,500 children and young people were temporarily housed by the youth welfare offices for their protection, which is five percent more than in 2020, as the Federal Statistical Office announced on Wednesday in Wiesbaden.
