Teen with Asperger’s syndrome missing from Tavares

Police are searching for an teen with Asperger’s syndrome who disappeared Monday night from her Tavares home.

Asja Gunn, 18, was reported missing about 9:30 p.m. after her mother realized she wasn’t at the their home on Kellogg Drive, according to Tavares police.

Police said Gunn has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and bipolar disorder, and has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old. She is considered endangered.

Tavares police enlisted help overnight from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and searched with a helicopter and canine teams, but didn’t found Gunn.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on her location to call detectives at 352-343-2101.

Gunn is described as having black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. Police said she is about 5-foot-2-inches tall and 118 pounds.
