Pasapalabra opens the summer season with four new guests, all willing to demonstrate their knowledge, reflexes and sympathy so that the contestants add seconds ahead of the final test of El Rosco. At least, that is the objective of Ricky Merino, Iván Sánchez, Alicia Borrachero and Elena Ballesteros. Let’s get to know this last guest a little better.
Elena Ballesteros was born in Madrid on July 6, 1981, so this week she turns 42 years old. Her face is well known to the public, since she entered the small screen almost three decades ago.
Ballesteros was clear that she wanted to be an actress from a very young age and at just six years old she began to do tests for television commercials. Already in 1995, she appeared at the casting of the mythical series Médico de Familia and was selected as a finalist for the role of María, the daughter of Nacho Martín (Emilio Aragón), although in the end the character went to Isabel Aboy. As a curiosity, Elena’s sister, Paula, did manage to appear in the series as María’s best friend
After doing some work in advertising, he found his first springboard: the Disney Club. It was in the third stage of the children’s program, in 1997, when the 16-year-old from Madrid made her debut as a presenter along with Jordi Cruz and David Carrillo.
At that time, she was already taking part in various castings for television and in fact she was chosen to play Valle in the mythical series Compañeros. However, her commitment to Club Disney prevented her from accepting the job and her role ended up going to Eva Santolaria.
And the third was the charm. Once her commitment as a presenter ended, she got the role of her in the series More than friends, which was born as a kind of Spanish Friends that did not come to fruition at all.
Much more relevance had his next stop. Elena Ballesteros went back to a casting for a project that promised to be a success and on that occasion she managed to get an important role. It was the series Periodistas (1998-2002), which was indeed a phenomenon, where the actress played the daughter of Luis Sanz (José Coronado). In addition, there she coincided with the actor Paco Marín (Chusky, in the series), with whom she had her daughter in 2002, as well as with Alicia Borrachero, with whom she shares the set of Pasapalabra this week.
His work at Periodistas marked a before and after in his career. Discovered as an actress, she made her film debut with the film Kasbah (2000), by Mariano Barroso, beginning a dizzying career on the big screen with a dozen films in 15 years. Of her, films such as the blockbuster Café Alone or With Them (2007), Fermat’s Room (2007) or The Opposite of Love (2011) stand out.
However, it was television where the Madrid actress continued to forge her popularity. She starred in the musical sitcom Paco y Veva alongside Hugo Silva and had key roles in series such as Mesa para cinco, Motivos personales, La Familia Mata or Ciega a citas. Likewise, she appeared sporadically in Siete vidas, The mysteries of Laura or Tell me how it happened.
More recently, Elena Ballesteros has worked on La que se avecina (Prime Video) and on the La 1 series Servir y proteger.
Regarding her private life, Ballesteros captured the attention of the tabloids when, in 2010 and after two years of dating, she married the comedian Dani Mateo, a marriage that lasted six years. The actress soon got married again, in 2017, this time civilly and with the biologist Juan Antonio Susarte Sánchez-Rex.
