Pasapalabra continues to parade through the month of May with the El Rosco boat getting fatter program by program. While the contestants try to get hold of the loot, consignments of celebrities are making an appearance on the Antena 3 set with the aim of helping the contestants with knowledge, reflexes and good humor. Among the guests on the program this week, Nerea Garmendia stands out.
“Actress, comedian and presenter”, reads in the Twitter biography of Nerea Garmendia (Beasáin, 1979). Not surprisingly, her professional career spans almost three decades, especially in television and theater.
Garmendia made her acting debut at the age of 16 and later moved from the Basque Country to Madrid to continue her training at the Cristina Rota School of Dramatic Art and at Alicia Hermida’s La Barraca.
Since then his career has added several professional successes both on the small screen and in the theater. Her first great opportunity came on the comedy show Vaya Semanita on ETB2. The success of the sketches was such that their creators and protagonists ended up landing on Spanish Television under the name Made in China, a bet that, however, did not obtain the expected audience results.
Nerea Garmendia was polishing her career in the early 2000s in other television programs at the regional and national level, highlighting her collaboration in La noche… con Fuentes y Cía (Tele 5).
However, his stardom was established in the series Los Hombres de Paco, where he gave life to the evil character of Ruth Montalbán, a role that remained for three seasons. She has also worked in other successful series such as Allí Abajo, playing Gotzone, or La Reina del Sur (as Eugenia Montijo). In total, she has appeared in fifteen series.
Parallel to the small screen, the Gipuzkoan actress has been recruited a dozen times for plays. Her premiere on her stage was in 2006 at the Príncipe de Gran Vía theater in Madrid with the play Nunca es fácil, where she worked with Nancho Novo. She has also dared with stand-up comedy, writing her own monologue (Con taras y a lo loco)
Regarding cinema, Garmendia had her first foray as a collaborator in a couple of American projects, L.A.: Fear (USA) and Welcome Papra, although it has been in recent years when she has received major roles: El Hogar, a film directed by Julio de la Fuente in 2022 and in which she is the protagonist and Table for 3, short film candidate for the Goya 2023.
On a more personal level, last year he announced that he suffers from bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, a disease that causes hearing dysfunction forcing him to wear hearing aids. “I have a 33% hearing loss and although I can’t hear life, I understand conversations.”
