The Taliban ask to speak before the UN General Assembly

The Taliban Government has requested to intervene in the current meetings of the UN General Assembly, which are developed between Tuesday and next Monday, as a spokesman for the Organization on Tuesday.

The petition is contained in a letter referred to the General Secretariat of the Organization by the Taliban Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, which also notifies the appointment of a new representative to the United Nations, in replacement of the current one, elected by the
Previous deposed executive.

The request, however, does not guarantee that the Taliban can be addressed to international leaders, because it corresponds to a committee of the Assembly to pronounce on who should intervene on behalf of Afghanistan, a priori will not occur before this General Assembly is over.
