Thuringia: collision with car: moped driver and passenger seriously injured

Zeulenroda-Triebes (dpa/th) – A moped driver and his passenger were seriously injured in a head-on collision with a car in Vogtland. The moped drove in the lane of the oncoming car in a curve in Zeulenroda-Triebes on Thursday afternoon, said a police spokesman. While police officers were then recording the accident data, three young Ascension day trippers are said to have hindered them and “mobbed”. A 24-year-old from the group had a stun gun with him, the spokesman said.

The moped driver and his companion were taken to hospitals in Jena and Gera by helicopter with several fractures, among other things. The driver of the car was not injured, according to police. Because there is a high overgrown field next to the road, the drivers of the moped and car could not see each other, it was said. More information – such as the age of the seriously injured – did not initially exist.
