Thuringia: Decision on state budget postponed to next week

Erfurt (dpa/th) – The decision on the 2023 state budget has been postponed by a week. In order to decide on the figures, parliament will convene on Thursday in a week (December 22), the Council of Elders of the state parliament decided on Tuesday in Erfurt, according to participants. The budget, which has been controversial for weeks, was originally supposed to be decided at the end of this week.

The reason for the postponement are timing problems after the minority coalition of Left, SPD and Greens only agreed on a compromise on Monday evening. It entails a number of changes to the government’s draft budget, which must first be discussed by the state budget committee. The budget volume should remain at 13 billion euros.
