Erfurt (dpa/th) – As of Tuesday, the district court in Stadtroda will be the first district court in Thuringia to conduct all new incoming proceedings exclusively electronically. This was announced by the Ministry of Justice on Monday. Accordingly, after the introduction of the so-called eAkten in Stadtroda, further district courts are to follow – specifically, the ministry names the district courts in Bad Salzungen, Mühlhausen and Erfurt. According to the Ministry, electronic court files are to be introduced in seven other district courts in the second half of the year.
According to the information, ten Thuringian courts have been using electronic case files so far. These include all four regional courts, the Thuringian Higher Regional Court and all administrative courts. Most recently, the social court in Gotha switched to electronic file management at the beginning of February. “The piloting of the electronic file at the district courts is an important step in the course of the ongoing digitization of the judiciary,” explains Minister of Justice Denstädt. From January 1, 2026, according to the will of the legislator, electronic file management in all courts and public prosecutor’s offices for new proceedings nationwide is mandatory.
