Thuringia: Five corona vaccine damages recognized in Thuringia: 155 applications

The fear of vaccination damage is a reason for some people to forgo the vaccination against Covid-19. According to the figures known so far, however, the risk is negligible.

Weimar (dpa/th) – According to the authorities, 155 people in Thuringia have so far applied for the recognition of damage to health as a result of the vaccination after corona vaccinations. Vaccination damage was recognized in five people, the state administration office said on request. 16 other applications were rejected, the others are still being processed. To classify: According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute, a total of around 4.1 million vaccinations have been administered in Thuringia so far. More than 1.5 million people have been vaccinated once. Around 1.47 million people have had their basic immunization, 1.1 million have taken the first and around 75,6000 the second booster.

According to the RKI, vaccination damage is defined as “the health and economic consequences of damage to health caused by the vaccination that goes beyond the usual extent of a vaccination reaction”. According to the Infection Protection Act, this health disorder must last longer than six months, as a spokeswoman for the state administration office explained. This minimum period is one reason why only a few cases have been decided in Thuringia.

The corona vaccination campaign in Thuringia began around the turn of the year 2020/2021 and only really picked up speed weeks later with increasing vaccine production. By September 30, 2021, only 18 applications had been received in Thuringia. Only from January to April of this year did the number increase significantly, according to the spokeswoman.

If you want to claim a health disorder as a result of the vaccination, you must submit an application to the state administration office. This requests the medical documents from the attending physicians and checks whether the damage to health is actually due to the vaccination. If this is the case and the vaccination damage is officially recognized, those affected are entitled to a basic pension. The amount depends on the severity of the vaccine damage.

According to a report by the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), which is responsible for vaccine safety, in Germany between December 27, 2020 and March 31, 2022, 0.2 suspected cases of serious vaccination reactions were reported per 1000 doses vaccinated. During this period, more than 172 million vaccinations were administered throughout Germany.
