Suhl (dpa/th) – rainfall has affected the network of trails in the Thuringian Forest. As a spokeswoman for the Thuringian Forest regional association said on Friday, the weather with fresh snow on Thursday and rain on Friday was a challenge. “A new preparation is difficult at the moment. We’re trying everything.” For this reason, almost all cross-country ski runs and ski hiking trails have been removed from the database.
In Frauenwald, Stutzerbach, Oberhof, Suhl, Schmiedefeld, Vesser, Neustadt am Rennsteig and Spechtsbrunn, attempts should be made to reopen the routes during the course of the day. “It’s currently raining too much,” said the spokeswoman. In Suhl, a tracking device got stuck in the soft snow in the morning. In Seligenthal and Tambach-Dietharz, the forest is closed until Monday due to fallen trees, and no preparation is possible there.
According to the association, nine lifts are currently open, including in Oberhof, Masserberg and Steinach.
