Two cayucos rescue with 91 migrants south of Gran Canaria

Maritime rescue has rescued two Cayucos on Tuesday with 91 migrants who traveled to the Canarian archipelago, according to the public organization sources.

The first Cayuco was located by the airplane SASEMAR 103 on 12.00, so the Maritime Rescue Control Center in Las Palmas mobilized the Guardamar Arenal Conception to address the area.

La Guardamar locked the Cayuco at 76 miles south of Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) and on 4:00 pm proceeded to the rescue of his 43 occupants, 41 men and 2 women, all of Maghrebi origin.

Around 18.30 pm, La Guardamar rescued 48 sub-Saharan males traveling on a second pawn that had also been sighted by the SASEMAR 103 plane in the same area.

At present, the Arenal conception is directed with all those rescued towards the port of Arguineguín, in the municipality of Mogán, where the arrival is scheduled around at 9:30 p.m.

Sources of Maritime Rescue have reported that one of the occupants of the second vessel has had to be evacuated by Helimer 204 by presenting poor health and has been taken to Dr. Negrín Hospital.
