Two people in the hospital: grandstand partially collapses during rehearsal for Queen's parade

At the beginning of June, the Queen’s 70th anniversary of the throne will be celebrated – an accident occurs during rehearsals. According to reports, a visitor’s stand partially collapses, injuring two people. Previously, dozens of spectators followed the ceremony near Buckingham Palace.

An accident with several injuries has overshadowed the rehearsals for the traditional military parade for the Queen’s Jubilee in London. Two people were taken to hospitals and three others were treated by paramedics after a visitors’ gallery partially collapsed, according to reports.

Dozens of spectators watched the ceremony near Buckingham Palace, which was abbreviated after the incident, the PA news agency reported. The newspaper “Daily Mail” reported, citing eyewitnesses, that a woman had fallen. “We are supporting emergency services following an incident at Horse Guards Parade grounds,” the Department of Defense said. “Further comment would be inappropriate at this time.”

The military parade dubbed “Trooping the Color” traditionally takes place every year in honor of Queen Elizabeth II. This year it is scheduled for June 2, opening the main celebrations of the monarch’s 70th jubilee. A total of three rehearsals are planned, the last on May 28th.
