War in Ukraine Russian attack leaves six dead at Ukrainian post office depot

At least six people have been killed and 14 injured by Russian missiles that fell on a postal depot in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine, local officials said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video on social media of what appears to be a severely damaged warehouse next to numerous debris and a container with the logo of the Ukrainian postal operator Nova Pochta. The attack happened late Saturday.

“The six people killed and 14 injured by the attack by the occupiers were employees of the company located inside the Nova Pochta terminal,” said the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Sinegubov.

“The victims, aged 19 to 42, were injured by shrapnel and the explosion,” he added. The 14 injured were hospitalized, half of them in serious condition, Sinegubov said.

According to the regional prosecutor’s office, Russian forces stationed in the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, fired S-300 missiles and two of them hit the depot.

“The analysis of the rubble continues at the site in order to establish the exact number of injured and dead,” said the spokesman for this office, Dmitro Chubenko, to the public media Suspilne.
