Aragon The Councilor for Sports of the Teruel City Council is arrested for an alleged crime of sexual abuse

Carlos Aranda, Councilor for Sports and Rural Neighborhoods in the Teruel City Council, was arrested this Sunday by agents of the National Police for an alleged crime of sexual abuse.

The mayor, belonging to Ciudadanos, would have been denounced by a 20-year-old who accused him of touching him without his consent.

Aranda remained all day yesterday at the National Police premises and it is expected that this Monday he will go to court.

As reported by the digital newspaper Hoy Aragón, the events would have occurred at the councilor’s home during the early hours of this Sunday, on a weekend in which the city of Teruel celebrated the wedding party of Isabel de Segura, the recreation in its streets of the Legend of the Lovers.

According to the aforementioned media, the mayor and the young man would have stayed in the councilor’s house, where the touching would have occurred. The complainant would have taken advantage of a mistake by Aranda to leave the house and file a complaint with the National Police.

Teruel City Council sources have reported the councilor’s arrest, although they have not specified the reason for it.

Likewise, from the leadership of Ciudadanos, the party to which the detainee belongs, they have shown their respect for judicial decisions and the presumption of innocence. For this reason, said formation will wait for the facts to be clarified before the judge before making the decisions that he considers most appropriate.

Carlos Aranda, 35 years old and a soccer referee, took office as the new councilor of the Teruel City Council in 2019 after the resignation of his predecessor, Francisco Blas.

Aranda assumed the delegations of Sports and Rural Neighborhoods, with exclusive dedication to the City Council. During the inauguration, on behalf of the entire municipal corporation, the mayor, Emma Buj, welcomed the City Council.
