DHL invests to create 3,500 new jobs

DHL, a logistics company, has announced plans to expand and create depots in the UK.

According to the firm, it will invest PS190m in 10 new delivery and collection depots in the UK. It will also expand 20 existing sites and create 3,500 jobs.

The other half will go towards a new hub south-bound at Coventry Airport.

The company’s chief financial officer stated that the investment would allow it to take advantage of future market growth.

The SEGRO Park Coventry Gateway, once completed, will be able to hold up to 500,000 products per day. More than 600 jobs in administration or manufacturing will also be created.

According to the German company, the investment was part of PS482m plans for expanding its UK ecommerce operation, DHL Parcel UK.

This comes after the company saw a 40% increase in volume since 2020. It was also due to a boom in its online-commerce division.

Peter Fuller, chief finance officer at DHL Parcel UK said that “this investment is a real testament to the excellent work our partners and people have done over the past 2 years to get to the level where major expansion will be required to meet customer demands.”

“E-commerce will continue to shape the world around you.”
