The public reinsurer estimated the worsening of claims in November at 75 million euros and the new claims in January at 15 million, one of its spokespersons told Agence France-Presse, confirming information from Les Echos . The CCR estimated the damage at 550 million euros at the end of November.
An amount that could still be reassessed
“This estimated cost takes into account the data we have to date and may be re-evaluated based on feedback on claims from our insurer clients,” she added.
The CCR, which in a way insures insurers for natural disasters, must directly cover at least 50% of the amount.
She was not able to give an estimate of the damage on Friday after Cyclone Belal passed through Reunion Island on January 15.
