Agents of the National Police have located and arrested in Ourense the ex-partner of the woman found dead with signs of violence in Baiona (Pontevedra) and suspected of the murder, which is being investigated as a case of gender violence.

As confirmed to Europa Press by Civil Guard sources, the device deployed to locate the suspect after the discovery of the body bore fruit this morning, when the victim’s ex-partner was located and identified in Ourense, where he was arrested. He will be transferred to the command of the Civil Guard of Pontevedra.

It was around 9:30 p.m. this Sunday when the residents of number four San Roque street, in the A Percibilleira neighborhood (Baiona), raised the alarm for the discovery of the body of a woman with signs of violence in the area of access to a house. The Civil Guard then began the investigations, which point to a case of gender violence, and the search for the woman’s ex-partner.

According to what the mayor of Baiona, Carlos Gómez, told Europa Press, the events apparently occurred late on Sunday, when the woman’s ex-partner went to the home to return the two minor children, with whom she had spent weekend.

It was at that moment that he allegedly committed the crime in front of the children. Subsequently, the man took the minors to their paternal grandparents’ house, and fled.

If it is confirmed that it is a case of sexist violence, it would be the first in Galicia and the eighth so far this year.
