It "works" with Musk: Twitter users report problems for hours

No notifications or unable to log in: During the night, the patience of thousands of Twitter users is tested for hours. It’s the first major disruption since Musk took over the online service. But the boss himself does not notice any problems.

According to users from all over the world, Twitter has had problems accessing the short message service for hours. The DownDetector platform, which specializes in Internet failures, reported a significant increase in problems on Twitter during the night. Users would no longer have been able to view their notifications, log in or use other functions.

It was one of the most serious technical disruptions to Twitter since Elon Musk took over the online service. At the height of the disruption, DownDetector was reporting more than 10,000 complaints across the US around 05:00 GMT. In other countries, according to the platform, the number of complaints ranged from a few hundred to several thousand.

Musk, who also heads electric car maker Tesla, acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October. The takeover has been overshadowed by numerous controversies, for example because Musk immediately fired the top management of the online service and then around half of the workforce. According to industry insiders, this is likely to affect the online service’s ability to quickly fix technical problems.

After 57.5 percent of the participants in a poll initiated by Musk himself voted for his resignation as Twitter boss, the billionaire agreed to this step last week. “I will step down as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job,” he tweeted. He will continue to lead the software and server teams at Twitter.
