New details have emerged about the upcoming opening of a new Primark store in Glasgow. The retail giant had initially announced plans to open a large unit at Glasgow Fort in early 2025. However, recent updates indicate that the store is now expected to welcome shoppers as early as December 2024, with a specific opening date to be confirmed closer to the time.

The new Primark store, spanning 33,500 sq. ft over two floors, will offer a wide range of products including clothing, kidswear, beauty, lifestyle, and home goods. In preparation for the store’s opening, Primark is looking to hire 200 new team members for permanent roles such as retail assistants, stockroom colleagues, and P&C administrators. These positions are set to be filled as soon as October to ensure the store is ready for the busy shopping season.

This new store will mark Primark’s 195th location in the UK and the 21st in Scotland, adding to the existing branches in Argyle Street, Sauchiehall Street, and The Forge Shopping Centre in Glasgow. Carolanne Molloy, the store manager of Primark Glasgow Fort, expressed her excitement about launching the new store and emphasized the company’s commitment to providing a great working environment for its employees.

To facilitate the hiring process, Primark representatives will be present at Glasgow Fort’s jobs fair on Thursday, September 26, to provide interested individuals with more information about the available positions and how to apply. Phil Goodman, the center director at Glasgow Fort, highlighted the positive impact of Primark’s arrival on the local community, citing the creation of numerous job opportunities and the addition of a popular retail brand to the center’s offerings.
