It was then that King Leovigildo sent San Leandro into exile who could not return to Seville until the king executed his son.

As Archbishop of Seville, he presided over the III Council of Toledo.

He is considered a key person in the development and growth of the Church in the Visigothic era. His body was buried in the Seville Cathedral in the year 600.
