Bill Gates to Share Untold Stories in Upcoming Memoir

Bill Gates has revealed that he will be delving into his “origin story” in a memoir set to be released next year. Titled My Beginnings, the book will explore the early life of the renowned businessman and philanthropist, from his upbringing in Seattle to his decision to drop out of Harvard at the age of 20 in 1975.

In a blog post on GatesNotes, Gates expressed his desire to shed light on his lesser-known past, stating, “Much of my life before my early 20s isn’t well known. People might be interested in my journey and the factors that influenced it.”

The memoir will touch on the challenges Gates faced in his youth, including feelings of being a misfit, conflicts with his parents, and the loss of a loved one. It will also delve into his decision to leave college to pursue a career in a fledgling industry.

Readers can expect to learn about the individuals who played pivotal roles in Gates’s life, shaping him into the influential figure he is today. Penguin Press, Gates’s UK publisher, has described My Beginnings as “a warm, wise and revealing self-portrait” of the tech mogul.

This forthcoming title will mark Gates’s first foray into memoir writing, following the success of his previous books on technology and climate change. Since stepping down as chair of Microsoft in 2014, Gates has focused on his philanthropic endeavors, particularly through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has made significant contributions to global health and poverty alleviation.

Scheduled for release on 4 February 2025, Source Code promises to offer readers a deeper understanding of the man behind the Microsoft empire and his journey towards becoming a leading figure in both technology and philanthropy.
