Birmingham City Centre recently unveiled a new sculpture trail featuring 10 brightly-painted bear statues scattered around popular locations such as the Bullring, the Mailbox, and Great Western Arcade. This initiative, organized by Central BID Birmingham, aims to provide a fun activity for families to enjoy during the school summer holidays. The trail will be available for the public to explore until 6 September.

Inspired by the beloved 1989 picture book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, the bear sculpture trail adds a whimsical touch to the city center. Each bear statue is accompanied by a QR code that allows visitors to send messages of support to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, promoting community engagement and charitable contributions.

Central BID Birmingham collaborated with art trail producer Wild in Art and children’s publisher Walker Books to bring this creative event to life. This partnership highlights the importance of supporting local businesses and fostering a sense of community through public art installations.

In addition to the bear sculpture trail, Central BID has previously organized other successful events in the city center, such as a winter-themed trail featuring “snow dog” statues. These initiatives not only attract visitors and residents to explore different parts of Birmingham but also contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the city.

The bear sculpture trail offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to appreciate art, engage with local businesses, and support a worthy cause. By participating in this interactive experience, visitors can discover new corners of Birmingham and contribute to the community’s well-being.

As Birmingham continues to showcase its creativity and innovation through public art projects like the bear sculpture trail, it reinforces the city’s reputation as a dynamic cultural hub. Whether you’re a local resident or a tourist exploring the city, don’t miss the chance to embark on this delightful bear-themed adventure in Birmingham City Centre.
