‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ Cast Grows with ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Ted Lasso’ Stars Joining

Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, and Jessica Gunning have officially signed on to join the star-studded cast of the upcoming adaptation of Enid Blyton’s “The Magic Faraway Tree.”

Coughlan, known for her role in “Bridgerton,” will be taking on the role of the woodland fairy Silky, while Anozie, from “Ted Lasso,” will portray Moonface. Gunning, who starred in “Baby Reindeer,” will be playing Dame Washalot. Other cast members include Dustin Demri-Burns as Saucepan Man, Mark Heap as Mr. Oom Boom Boom, and Oliver Chris as Mr. Watzisname.

The film is set to follow the Thompson family as they embark on whimsical adventures after discovering a magical tree in the English countryside. The cast will also include British icons Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, and Simon Russell Beale as mystical wise men from the Land of Know-Alls, alongside previously announced stars Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield.

Adapted by BAFTA winner Simon Farnaby and directed by Ben Gregor, production for the film is scheduled to begin later this month in the U.K. The project is produced by Oscar nominee Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, Danny Perkins, and Jane Hooks, with Ashland Hill Media Finance fully financing the film.

Enid Blyton’s books have been translated into over 35 languages and have sold over 500 million copies worldwide, with “The Faraway Tree” series being one of her most popular works. Elysian Film Group CEO Danny Perkins expressed excitement over the talented cast coming together for the project, emphasizing the enduring legacy of Blyton’s storytelling.

With the high-profile cast and the magical world of Enid Blyton coming to life on the big screen, fans can expect a captivating and enchanting family adventure in “The Magic Faraway Tree.”
