Land-based casinos in Las Vegas set for a return to full capacity

We are back! Major casinos have been given the go-ahead to return to their normal land-based practices making this coming week one of the most exciting in a long time. Due to the prevalent world health state, social distancing restrictions had been put in place with virtually all land-based casinos in Las Vegas closed. Now all of this is about to end and it is truly a good time for tourists, socialites, and all other types of casino players.

What are the guidelines for the reopening?

Depending on your exact location, you should expect restrictions particularly in the non-gaming areas like restaurants, pools, and bars. Of course, you would be required to use a nose mask in the meantime until we receive an official mandate from the government and health authorities. Back in April, Gov. Steve Sisolak said that he was expecting the state’s battered economy to bounce back and be fully reopened by June 1st. However, he reiterated the mask-wearing mandated to remain in place before then.

The essence of complying with these guidelines is to protect players’ health and safety. Thus, while social distancing measures might be put in place elsewhere, gaming floors are increasingly likely to be fully operational.

How did we get here?

Thanks to the vaccination programs implemented across the state’s workforce, the Gaming control board granted waivers for casino floors to flip. Again, there is the directive that if the majority of residents in the area get the vaccine short, non-casino places could be open as well. Clark County lawmakers in Las Vegas approved a 60% index for its residents. Though it has not yet hit this figure, it’s edging closer than ever. As of last week Wednesday, the figures had already been up to 47%.

It has truly been a long road to an incredible recovery and this new milestone shows the remarkable effect of vaccination in the efforts to re-open land-based casinos. The common goal is to continue to take personal and public health as a priority while having a thrilling hands-on experience spinning those reels. Employees and guest alike can now carry out their normal activities without any reservations.

You can now take your chips to the cage

The Las Vegas Strip casinos that showed Nevada State regulators proof of over 80% of their workforce being vaccinated were cleared to lift occupancy and other social distancing requirements. Land-based casinos will no longer have those clear plastic separators as long as they meet the vaccination target.

This milestone has been celebrated by MGM Resorts CEO, Bill Hornbuckle who said in a statement “We will continue working to vaccinate as many people as possible and remain vigilant with health and safety protocols designed to protect our employees, guests, and community.”

Officials and experts agree that vaccination and compliance to health guidelines will continue to play an invaluable role in the reopening of Land-based casinos in Las Vegas. Furthermore, if these casinos are to remain open, all hands must be on deck for a total and complete recovery.
