Plane crash in Texas: World War II machines collide at air show

Two World War II-era planes collide at an air show in Dallas. The extinguishing work is underway. The extent of the disaster is still unclear.

Two planes collided and crashed at an air show in Texas on Saturday. The accident happened around Saturday noon (local time) in Dallas at a World War II commemoration air show, the US Federal Aviation Administration announced.

A Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra, a World War II-era bomber and fighter, collided. Both aircraft are said to have been based in Houston. On Friday, the United States celebrated Veterans Day, a holiday honoring veterans.

It was still unclear how many people were on board the two machines, the FAA said, and the extinguishing work was ongoing. It is very unlikely that the crew survived, the machines flew too low to be able to save themselves. It is also unclear whether people were injured on the ground.
