Parents from Thuringia miss their 22-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son. They find their car at a frozen reservoir. Rescue workers can only rescue the dead siblings. Apparently, the two entered too thin a layer of ice.

A pair of siblings probably collapsed on a frozen reservoir in southern Thuringia and died. The 22-year-old and her 13-year-old brother were rescued lifeless by divers from the water reservoir near Westhausen in the Hildburghausen district, a police spokeswoman said. There had been a breach on the reservoir, which was covered with a thin layer of ice.

The two were driving on Friday and their mother reported them missing shortly before midnight. When the siblings didn’t come home, the parents went looking for their children. They then found their daughter’s car at the reservoir and alerted the police, the spokeswoman said.

According to the police spokeswoman, the layer of ice on the lake was not very thick. Police and lifeguards searched for the siblings with divers and a dog, who could only be recovered dead. According to the police, it was an accident. There are currently no signs of third-party debt, it said.
