Sex Pistols Reunite for Bush Hall Benefit Shows

The iconic punk rock band Sex Pistols is set to reunite for two special performances in August to support the historic west London music venue, Bush Hall. The band members Paul Cook, Glen Matlock, and Steve Jones will be joined by singer Frank Carter to raise funds for the venue that has hosted music legends like Amy Winehouse, REM, and Florence + The Machine.

Cook, who grew up near the venue in Shepherd’s Bush, expressed his excitement about the benefit shows, stating that it would be a great way to prevent the venue from closing down. Matlock emphasized the importance of smaller music venues in nurturing new talent and connecting with audiences. Carter, who previously performed at Bush Hall, described the opportunity to join the Sex Pistols as a joyous experience.

The musicians will be performing their iconic 1977 album “Never Mind The Bollocks Here’s The Sex Pistols” in its entirety during the shows. The funds raised from the performances will contribute to improving the venue’s facilities and supporting emerging artists through the Bush Hall Presents programming.

Bush Hall, which has a rich history dating back to 1904, has faced financial challenges in recent times. A crowdfunding campaign was initiated earlier in the year to support the independent music venue. The upcoming benefit shows aim to raise awareness about the struggles faced by grassroots music venues in the current industry landscape.

While original Sex Pistols singer John Lydon will not be performing at the shows, the band members are enthusiastic about contributing to the preservation of live music spaces. Tickets for the shows, scheduled for August 13 and 14, will be available for purchase starting June 5 via Live Nation. The artwork for the events has been designed by Shepard Fairey, known for his iconic Hope poster for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008.

The reunion of Sex Pistols for the Bush Hall benefit shows signifies a significant moment in music history, highlighting the importance of supporting and sustaining live music venues for future generations.
