‘The Flash’ Season 3 Spoilers: EP Talks Caitlin And Julian’s Relationship

Although Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Julian (Tom Felton) know that they like each other, fans of “The Flash” shouldn’t expect the two to become a couple right away.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, executive producer Aaron Helbing implied that Caitlin and Julian are both being careful when it comes to matters of the heart, given her fear of becoming Killer Frost and his dark past as Savitar’s ally, Doctor Alchemy.

“I think they’re just like any pair of friends that start to have feelings for each other, they’re navigating a minefield,” Helbing told the news outlet. “This is on a heightened level because Julian was Dr. Alchemy and created a lot of metahumans, and Caitlin is struggling to have any control over her powers, and she doesn’t want to go down the slippery slope where she becomes Killer Frost, so it’s kind of a balancing act between the two.”

“That’s kind of the way we’re playing it,” the exec producer continued. “They have feelings for each other more so, I would say he has more feelings for her at the moment, based on her past and just dealing with what happened with Zoom (Teddy Sears) and what happened with Ronnie (Robbie Amell). So they’re kind of tap dancing, I would say.”

Julian’s care for Caitlin became much more obvious when he joined Team Flash’s rescue mission on Earth-2 Gorilla City in Season 3, episode 13. “Julian has feelings for Caitlin and she’s important to him,” Helbing told TVLine of the CSI’s actual reason for joining the inter-dimensional travel. “He’s kind of an old-school guy going against a woman is clearly formidable and able to take care of herself, so he’s just trying to be a gentleman. He wanted to make sure that, since she’s a woman he cares about, he would be there for her in this alternate world. Plus, he got the opportunity to go to another Earth!”

An all-new episode of “The Flash” (Season 2, episode 14) airs tonight at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
